For what did they care?
The Earth belonged to everybody so for what did they care?
The waters were not theirs, so for what did they care?
The forests were not theirs, so for what did they care?
The children were not theirs, so for what did they care?
Orphants, all of them really, for any security that they
might once have had was not theirs.
Paupers, for anything that might yet become theirs through
toil and effort soon belongs to the state, for it was not
theirs to begin with. They say it belongs to everybody,
but who that was no one could really tell.
They did not know to whom it belongs, all they knew,
was that it did not belong to them.
They did not belong, for all they did was get in the way of everybody else.

Things to do there was plenty of, but what man will work a soil that is not his?
For no soil could ever be his, it belonged to everybody.
To whom the effort of all his work belonged
he did not know, but it did not belong to him.
